Resident. Widespread and common throughout England
and Wales, more local and less common in Scotland.
Montgomeryshire Status
This species was first recorded in 2013 at Middletown in the east of
the county and is probably more common than the records suggest.

Confusion species
Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should
be given when separating these species. |

Wherever the foodplant is found.
Foodplant
Sallows.
Lifestage data
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva minesunderside
of leaf, usually between two veins as far as the mid-rib. Pupa is
pale brown in pale yellow-brown cocoon. Pupates within mine
away from any frass. |
